Details

Three-volume 1876–1878 set of "Our Country: A Household History for All Readers" by Benson J. Lossing, illustrated by Felix O. C. Darley. Vol. I (Johnson, Wilson & Co., 1876), Vol. II (Johnson & Miles, 1878), Vol. III (Henry J. Johnson, 1878). Over 500 in-text wood engravings and twelve steel-engraved plates noted on the title pages. Each volume measures approximately 10" x 7.5". Attractive, complete Victorian set of illustrated American history. Narrative U.S. history “from the discovery of America to the present time” (then-present), profusely illustrated—popular in its day for the engravings and accessible prose (Lossing was a noted 19th-c. historian; Darley was America’s most prolific illustrator of the era).

Light rubbing to leather, scattered foxing/toning consistent with age; bindings mostly sound although one page was noted to be detached from the binding in Volume 3. Owner inscription written on inside cover page of each volume. See pictures for further details on condition.
