1917 Praise Divine & 1926 Pleasures of Heaven Vaughan Shape-Note Songbooks

Pair of early Southern gospel/shape-note hymnals by James D. Vaughan, Lawrenceburg, TN: Praise Divine (1917, muslin binding; price 25¢ on title page) and Pleasures of Heaven (1926, manila wraps; price 35¢; “either round or shaped notes”). Each approx. 7.5" x 5.25". Scarce early Vaughan pair that presents well for study or display.

Both are complete reading copies with heavy cover wear, edge fraying, toning/foxing, stains, and owner marks; 1917 shows muslin soiling and old moisture staining to endpapers; 1926 has writing/circling to index and general wear. See pictures for further details on condition.
