Up for sale are 2 Swiss-type encasement files. These are usually use in watchmaking and jeweler work where precision filing is required. They can also be used by any craft where very fine file cutting is needed. These 2 files are made by 2 of the finest file makers. One is made by Vautier, a known Swiss/French manufacturer of escapement and needle files. The tapered, flat shape with a fine point and consistent width is common in barrette, crossing, or knife-shaped escapement files.Extremely fine tooth pattern, likely a very fine Swiss cut (possibly Cut #4–6+).It is used for removing minimal material with high precision. the 2nd.one has the cartouche of K.F and was made for Nicholson File Co. by German tool maker "Krieger & Föhr" a well known German manufacturer of fine files and precision tools. Their tools were widely used by jewelers, instrument makers, and horologists. These files could be used by many woodworks who wanted very fine precision files to work on all kinds of woodworking tool.

With over 76 years of life experience and a passion for woodworking, I’ve spent decades collecting, restoring, and working with antique hand tools, mostly hand planes . I'm an Army Vet. (1967-1969) and married with 2 children. I'm also a avid gardener. I have a degree in Forestry from S.I.U. although I only worked in the industry for 6 weeks. I'm retired from the coal mines and also the Post Office. I live in Southern Illinois near Carbondale. I love to hunt and fish. I live on 30 with a 9 acre strip mine lake in front of the house. My work shop includes a Delta Unisaw , a Grizzley 17" band saw and a DeWalt 735 planer. I have many hand planes including a very nice Stanley #2 type 7
