#3 Smoothing Plane Stanley Defiance Eclipse

#3 Smoother Plane Only Markings is Made in USA I think this is an Eclipse made by Stanley for Montgomery Wards. Eclipse was Montgomery Wards economy line so there is a good chance this is a rebadged Defiance plane, but what little I can find on MG planes, some Baileys where used for all 3 MG lines, Stanley basically just sold MG what ever they had on hand and rebadged it. I think this is from the 1930- 40's, just comparing it to a Stanley, again I am not sure the dates as there is not much info on the MG planes. I have fixed up a few of these and they make nice user planes, Are they the plane to end all planes? No. But they will work just fine for most any woodworker not heck bent on brand names

Retired Archaeologist now working for city of Lexington Engineering Dept. Have been a carpenter and woodworking for some time, just switched over to hand tools several years ago. But now my health has changed, I have no kids and if Gods will, will be retiring and moving to Philippines in the next 5 Years. So I am slowly selling off tools (and other things) that I know I will not be hauling across the world. When the time comes, I may sell off more, but for now all my extras or things I bought to resale need to go....Heck I may just sell it all and not touch a tool again depending on my health in 5 years....
