#4 Size Dunlap by Sargent for Sears Bench Plane

$30.00

Details

Dunlap #4 sized Bench Plane. This one is Marked BL indicating that it was made by Sargent and I think somewhere between 1949 & 1958, but I could be wrong. The Sargent BL marks where replaced by #619 about 1958.

Dunlap was Sears top of the line hand planes (think Stanley Bailey) and replaced the Fulton line in 1939+/-. Dunlap planes where made by Sargent and Millers Falls with only a few years in the 50's made in Germany (not sure by who). Dunlap went the way of the Fulton in the early or mid 60's, I forgot now.

I like Dunlap Planes and I own several, they work great after a tune up and make beautiful shavings. I thought about keeping this one, but then I would have to find more of it's red body kinfolk so it's not lonely as all mine have black bodies.

    Selling since November 2024

Retired Archaeologist now working for city of Lexington Engineering Dept. Have been a carpenter and woodworking for some time, just switched over to hand tools several years ago. But now my health has changed, I have no kids and if Gods will, will be retiring and moving to Philippines in the next 5 Years. So I am slowly selling off tools (and other things) that I know I will not be hauling across the world. When the time comes, I may sell off more, but for now all my extras or things I bought to resale need to go....Heck I may just sell it all and not touch a tool again depending on my health in 5 years....
