Rare and lovely porcelain candleholder from Minton of Stoke-On-Trent, England, circa 1912-1950. Founded in 1793, Minton was known for the quality and skill of its artists, and quickly acquired royal patronage from several European houses for their quality porcelain and bone china. Sadly the firm was acquired by the Wedgwood group, and eventually all buildings originally operating under the Minton name were demolished in the 1990s and 2000s.
This lovely floral garland pattern is not identified by name on the base of the candleholder, but the maker mark dates this piece between 1912-1950. It is in pristine condition with little sign of wear even on the usually delicate gilt surfaces. It measures 5.25” high and 3.5” wide at the base. No chips or cracks or crazing, it is a lovely treasure that will become a family heirloom. Ships from a smoke free pet free home.
