Books, "The Boxcar Children" #1 - #4 mystery & adventure ages, 9 - 12, by Gertrude Warner 2012

Set of 4 books, originally published in 1953, renewed copyright in 1981, these stories have been loved for generations of kids. Recommended for ages 9 - 12 they have been lightly updated. They were some of my favorites when I was a kid in the 1960s. Four siblings, 2 girls and 2 boys, are orphaned and decide they must survive on their own. They make their home in an abandoned boxcar and the mysteries and adventures begin there. The original series by Gertrude Warner contained 19 books, but since her death, other authors have continued the series which now has over 160 books.
