Details

This beautifully detailed ginger jar is from one of the most prolific English producers. The company in fact is generally acknowledged as the inventor of ironstone in the early 19th century. Even though this piece is dated by the base stamp between 1910-1920, the ironstone renders it very durable and hardy, and it is in fine vintage condition. The additional strength from a small amount of added iron is the reason.

The pattern is called Chartreuse, and the chinoiserie floral print wraps round the jar and lid, with beautiful gold detail work, done by hand. It’s a fine piece to add to a ginger jar collection, or simply for its composition, function, and beauty.

Measures 5.5” high and 5” wide. Ships from a smoke free pet free home.
