Craftsman 4CBB No 4 size smoothing plane. Made by Millers Falls 1939-1941 - a type 11 model no 3742. This is a great user smoother and it has a wicked sharp Record iron that is full length. It is tuned and ready to make shavings. The original rosewood tote was missing when it came to me so I replaced it with a rosewood tote from a Stanley.
See the pictures. The chrome finish on the lever cap and chip breaker is still pretty shiny. The waist nuts are nickel plated brass. The sides originally had chasing (wavy lines) but that is mostly gone just some hints of it. Body japanning is still pretty good. The body still has some paint splatters but seem like a requirement for older planes. Tote was repaired but it was a clean break that was reassembled nicely.

Long time hobby woodworker. Most of that has been as a power tool user but in the last several years I've taken up hand tools and love it. Also found that I really like putting old iron back into service.
