Details
This beautifully detailed ceramic lidded bowl is characteristic of the fine quality of hand made Italian ceramics from the northern Bassano area. The bowl is signed and numbered, but the artist is unknown, though initials are clearly visible. The floral design is embossed, then hand painted. The rough base and visible raw clay show it is a very artisanal piece, likely made in a small family pottery studio. The rough base is typical of pieces produced in the early post WWII years up to the early 1980s when global export and trade became more common, and kilns produced more polished, detail finished pieces.
It measures 5.5” wide and 3.5” high, and there is one spot on the lid where the paint has dipped away revealing the red clay mould. Ships from a smoke free pet free home.
