About The Record:

Come Saturday Morning, by Jackie Gleason, features lush, orchestral instrumental covers of popular songs and film themes. The standout hit single from the album is the title track Come Saturday Morning (also known as "Saturday Morning"), which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Easy Listening chart and No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1970, originating from the 1969 film The Sterile Cuckoo and earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song. Other key tracks include "Airport Love Theme," "A Rainy Night in Georgia," "Traces," and "Can't Help Falling in Love," showcasing Gleason's signature romantic and mellow mood music style. Historically significant as part of Gleason's extensive catalog of over 40 mood albums that sold millions worldwide, this release marked his continued dominance in the easy listening genre during a transitional period in his career from television stardom to musical legacy, influencing lounge and ambient sounds for decades. The album's blend of contemporary hits with orchestral arrangements exemplified the escapist appeal of easy listening in the late 1960s and early 1970s, a time when such music provided a soothing counterpoint to the era's social upheavals. Overall, Come Saturday Morning reinforced Gleason's reputation as the "Great One" of romantic instrumental pop, contributing to his status as one of the best-selling recording artists of his time.
