Kachina Doll Silent Warrior 1994 Signed By MAR

This is a vintage 1994 carved wooden Kachina named the Silent Warrior made by MAR. The Doll stands 10” and very well made beautiful bright colors real feathers and fur all hand crafted. The name Silent Warrior for Kachina dolls as I have researched first mentioned this kachina on the First Mesa where [Alexander M.] Stephen (in the 1890's) gives a detailed account of Nakyachop (sic) dancing in the Sio Salako. He is referred to as the Salako Warrior or the Silent Warrior. . They use to preform a dance, poles were set into sockets worn into the rock of the mesa edge, and the kachinas danced by climbing the poles and swinging themselves far out over the enormous drop from the rim.
