Metropolitan Museum of Art Louis C. Tiffany Peacock Feather Glass Paperweight

$23.00

Details

The artist Louis C. Tiffany developed a method of blending different colors together in glass while it was in a molten state, thus achieving subtle effects of shading and texture. He called this type of glass, which was often noted for it's iridescence, Favrile glass - meaning "hand-wrought". The peacock feather reproduced on this paperweight is based on a swirling feather design from an original Favrile vase in the Metropolitan Museum of Arts collection. Base diameter: 3.25" Felt on the bottom to protect surfaces. This is a new-open box item.
