Millers Falls No.14 - Type 2 (second Release) Restored & Tuned

This Millers Falls No.14 - Type 2 (second Release) has been cleaned, restored, and tuned to be a fantastic jack plane.

All rust and dirt has been meticulously cleaned from every nook and cranny, with bare metal brought to a matte shine. The sole, frog, and blade have been lapped flat on a Zen Wu diamond plate. The blade has been brought to hair-shaving sharp on a thousand grit diamond stone. The chip breaker and blade have been mated together for a perfect fit.

The frog had been painted black at some point, but has been brought back to its original red. The japanning was in poor condition, so areas of loss were cleaned and a thin coat of black enamel brushed over top. The lacquer on the knob and tote was cracked and flaking, so it was removed. The original cocobolo knob and tote were refinished with shellac and paste wax, making for an attractive finish and comfortable feeling in the hand.
