About The Record:

Sentimental, by Mitch Miller, released on Columbia Records as part of the popular Sing Along with Mitch series that encouraged audience participation with included lyrics. The album features nostalgic renditions of classic sentimental songs like Singin' in the Rain, I'll See You in My Dreams, and Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair, blending orchestral arrangements with choral vocals to evoke early 20th-century Americana. It achieved significant commercial success, debuting on the Billboard popular albums chart on June 27, 1960, peaking at No. 5, and spending 32 weeks on the chart, while also topping the Canadian charts and earning RIAA gold certification. Historically, the album fueled the cultural phenomenon of Mitch Miller's sing-along format, which inspired his hit NBC television series Sing Along with Mitch (1961–1964), appealing to older audiences during the rise of rock 'n' roll and reflecting a nostalgic resistance to evolving musical trends. The widespread popularity of this album highlights Miller's influence in preserving easy-listening traditions.
