Great Neck Corsair #4 Sized Bench Plane. Great Neck used to make good tools and have been around since the 1920's or earlier. This one has wooden tote and knob and I am going to assume it's pre WWII, maybe even the early 1950's at the latest.
This is the 1st non modern (60-70's) Great Neck plane I have had, I have seen photos of a few, but not handled one. I can not find much history or how to date these planes, so I am guessing.
I think this one would make a nice user plane, it has a wide mouth, so you're not getting frog hair thin shavings. But with that wide mouth, make a great SCRUB PLANE!
This comes from a collection of planes and other woodworking tools I bought. I was buying, restoring and reselling hand woodworking tools
I also use and sorta collect woodworking hand tools, but my health has been getting worse and I figure that I need to thin down my tools to just what I actually use. That way it's easier on my wife when I am gone, she does not have so much stuff to deal with.

Selling since November 2024
Retired Archaeologist now working for city of Lexington Engineering Dept. Have been a carpenter and woodworking for some time, just switched over to hand tools several years ago. But now my health has changed, I have no kids and if Gods will, will be retiring and moving to Philippines in the next 5 Years. So I am slowly selling off tools (and other things) that I know I will not be hauling across the world. When the time comes, I may sell off more, but for now all my extras or things I bought to resale need to go....Heck I may just sell it all and not touch a tool again depending on my health in 5 years....
