Pat, by Pat Boone, released in 1957 on Dot Records, is a significant early work in his career, showcasing his smooth pop and rock style that appealed to a broad audience during the 1950s. It features a mix of original songs and covers, reflecting Boone’s knack for adapting rhythm and blues hits for mainstream listeners. Historically, the album is notable for its role in establishing Boone as a major pop star, second only to Elvis Presley in chart success at the time. Key hit singles include Ain’t That a Shame, a No. 1 cover of Fats Domino’s R&B classic, and I’ll Be Home, which reached No. 1 in the UK. The album’s success contributed to Boone’s record of 220 consecutive weeks on the Billboard charts, a feat he still holds.
