Don't Just Stand There, by Patty Duke, released in 1965 on United Artists Records to capitalize on her teen stardom from the hit sitcom The Patty Duke Show, which aired from 1963 to 1966. The album features pop tracks written by notable songwriters like Bob Gaudio and Cynthia Weil, reflecting the girl group sound of the era, and it marked Duke's entry into the music industry following her Oscar-winning acting career. Historically significant as one of the many teen idol-to-singer crossovers of the 1960s, similar to those of Shelley Fabares and Annette Funicello, it spent 12 weeks on the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 90, though Duke's music career proved brief, ending by 1966 as she focused on acting. The album's standout hit single, the title track Don't Just Stand There, reached No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 1965, becoming Duke's biggest chart success and her debut single. Another notable single from the album, Say Something Funny, climbed to No. 22 later that year, further highlighting her brief but chart-topping musical phase.
