Alone Again (Naturally), by Ray Conniff, showcases easy listening arrangements of early 1970s pop hits, including Alone Again (Naturally), Song Sung Blue, The Candy Man, and Day by Day from the musical Godspell. Produced by Jack Gold and arranged by Conniff, the album features his signature wordless vocal choruses with light orchestral backing, a style that defined his prominence in the adult contemporary genre. Historically notable as one of Conniff’s last charting albums, it captures a shift in the music landscape as rock and roll began overshadowing easy listening, impacting his sales. The title track, a cover of Gilbert O'Sullivan’s 1972 hit Alone Again (Naturally), is a standout, though Conniff’s version did not chart significantly. The album reflects Conniff’s lasting influence, with over 50 million albums sold worldwide through his innovative orchestral-vocal approach.
