Details
Celebrate classic “rice eye” porcelain with this unbranded set of five sake cups or mini bowls, circa 1970s–1980s. Each cup features the Rice Eye pattern: tiny translucent ovals (“rice grains”) formed by leaving small grain-shaped openings in the porcelain body during the first firing. After glazing and refiring, the glaze fills those openings to create luminous “eyes” that glow when held to the light—a hallmark of Ling Long work associated with Jingdezhen kilns. Inside each cup is a cobalt blue chrysanthemum medallion with hand-painted orange and gold accents and auspicious characters.
