Details
Vinyl plays with some crackles and a few light-clicks (play-graded). Cover has a few creases near edges; scuffing, staple holes near top corner, discoloration near opening (front/back). Inner-sleeve is original (generic white), seams partially split with a tear on one of them. Spine is easy-to-read with mild-wear (crooked text). Minor shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Opening is mostly crisp with signs of light use and divots; heavier use towards middle. (Not a cut-out.)
Joy in the Morning, by Richard Chamberlain, released by MGM Records during the peak of his teen idol fame from starring in the TV series Dr. Kildare. The album features standards and themes, including the title track, which Chamberlain performed in the 1965 MGM film adaptation of Betty Smith's novel Joy in the Morning, marking a significant crossover from his acting career into music. Historically notable as one of Chamberlain's four chart albums in the early 1960s, it reflects the era's trend of television heartthrobs leveraging their fame with light ballad recordings, though it was less commercially successful than his earlier works. The tracklist includes romantic ballads like I Can Dream, Can't I?, Dear Heart, Georgia on My Mind, and Stella by Starlight, highlighting Chamberlain's smooth baritone with orchestral backing. The single Joy in the Morning, tied to the film, received modest airplay but did not reach the Billboard Hot 100.
