About The Record:

Plays Christmas Songs, by Roger Williams, released in 1956 on Kapp Records, is a festive collection of piano instrumentals featuring holiday classics, showcasing his signature blend of pop, jazz, and classical influences. The album captures Williams' sweeping, arpeggio-laden style, delivering a smooth and relaxing interpretation of Christmas music that resonated with audiences during the mid-20th century. While the album itself did not produce chart-topping singles, it contributed to Williams' reputation as a leading instrumentalist, following his historic success with Autumn Leaves, the only piano instrumental to reach No. 1 on Billboard's popular music chart in 1955. Its release during the peak of his career helped solidify his status as "Mr. Piano" and complemented his extensive discography, which included 38 hit albums and 22 hit singles between 1955 and 1972. The album remains a notable part of his legacy, reflecting his ability to connect with listeners through timeless holiday melodies
