Vinyl plays with crackles and a few light-clicks (play-graded). Cover has a few creases near edges; light-scuffing, (front/back); light surface impressions on back, heavier on front, discoloration with darker discoloration spots on back, rippling on front. Inner-sleeve is original (Poly-lined paper). Spine has no text and shows heavy wear. Severe shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners, top and bottom edge entirely split. Opening is crisp with signs of light use and divots. (Not a cut-out.)
Ten Tunes of Christmas, by Ruth Lyons, released in 1958 on Candee Records, is a collection of ten original holiday songs performed by Lyons and her ensemble, including the Bello-Larks, Marian Spelman, Bonnie Lou, Peter Grant, Ruby Wright, and Bob Braun. This regional LP, primarily available in the Cincinnati area where Lyons' television show was broadcast, achieved remarkable success, selling 250,000 copies—a significant feat compared to the national benchmark of 50,000 copies for a hit album. Lyons, a pioneering radio and television personality, wrote all the songs and produced the album, a rare accomplishment for a woman in the 1950s music industry, with recordings made at King Recording Studio in Cincinnati. Notable tracks include Let's Light the Christmas Tree by Ruby Wright and Have a Merry Merry Merry Merry Christmas by Ruby Wright and the Angel Choir, though no specific singles from the album were identified as chart-topping hits. The album's cultural impact and Lyons' contributions to holiday music and philanthropy through her Christmas Fund underscore its historical significance in the Cincinnati region.
