Up for sale is a super nice Stanley #4 type 5 hand plane. It is super nice and has no issues. It has the Q logo iron and the 2 patent dates on the lateral adj. lever. It has the type 5 only lateral adj. lever that is a straight bar to fit in the slot on the blade, after the type 5 Stanley went to the round lateral adj. lever. This makes the type 5 planes pretty rare, you don't see many up for sale. And on a very few as nice as this one. It has the smooth sole of course and it's in great shape and the mouth is good , no cracks or chips. The 2 pat. dates on the lateral adj. lever are bold and no pitting on it as you see on most of the planes this old. The Japanning on the bed was pretty spotty so I stripped it off and re-Japanned it using Stanley's original factory recipe and baked it five times. I think it looks great. I sharpened the iron going through the grits up to 8000. The tote and knob are nice with no cracks or chips. The knob has a bead around the base. You won't find a 140 year old plane much nicer. Alaska and Hawaii message me to work out shipping cost.
