Details
Vinyl plays with some crackles and a few light-clicks (play-graded). Cover has creases near edges; light-scuffing, surface impressions (front/back). Inner-sleeve is original (generic white); one seam partially split. Spine is mostly easy-to-read with noticeable wear. Moderate shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Opening is mostly crisp with signs of use and divots, especially in the middle. (Not a cut-out.)
Switch, by Switch, marked their debut on Motown's Gordy label and was a pivotal moment in their career, achieving commercial success with a platinum certification. Formed in Mansfield, Ohio, the band, previously known as White Heat and Hot Ice, gained prominence with this album, which blended sweet soul and Ohio-style funk, reflecting the 1970s transition from vocal R&B to self-contained funk bands. The album's historical significance lies in its role as a breakthrough for Switch, establishing them as a notable act in the late-1970s R&B scene, with their versatility in switching lead vocalists and instruments during performances. Hit singles from the album include There'll Never Be, which reached No. 6 on the US R&B chart and No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100, and I Wanna Be Closer, a Jermaine Jackson-penned ballad that peaked at No. 22 on the US R&B chart. The album's success, peaking at No. 37 on the Billboard 200 and No. 6 on the Top Soul LPs chart, underscored Switch's influence on later acts like DeBarge, which included siblings of Switch members Bobby and Tommy DeBarge.
