Now That We Found Love, by Third World, released in 1978 by Island Records, is a reggae-disco cover of the O'Jays' 1973 soul classic from their album Ship Ahoy. This single, featured on Third World's third album Journey to Addis, became a significant crossover hit, peaking at No. 10 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 47 on the US Billboard Hot 100, while reaching No. 9 on the Hot Soul Singles chart. Its infectious blend of reggae rhythms and disco grooves marked a pivotal moment in reggae's global reach, helping Third World gain international recognition and paving the way for future reggae fusion hits. The track's historical significance lies in its role as a bridge between reggae and mainstream pop, influencing later covers, notably Heavy D & the Boyz's 1991 hit version. The 12" vinyl release, praised for its immaculate pressing and extended mix with an acapella intro and drum solo, remains a beloved classic among DJs and reggae enthusiasts.
