Vintage Art Nouveau Reverse Incised Glass Fairy Intaglio Hat Pin

This incredible and highly collectible vintage hat pin is topped with a inch wide etched and cut glass crystal. The etched design is exceptionally detailed and depicts a fairy figure who seems mid flight.

The head, set in beautiful brass, measures about two inches tall and with the pin, the whole piece is about 9 inches long.

The flowing style of the detailed fairy is characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement, which flourished from roughly 1890 to 1910. Art Nouveau emphasizes organic forms, natural motifs, and elegant, flowing lines, as seen in the figure's pose and wings.

During this period, hatpins also gained notoriety as a means of self-defense for women, leading to discussions and regulations around their length, known as "The Hatpin Peril"
