Details
Uranium glass is glass made with uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form, added to a glass mix before melting for coloration. The uranium imparts a yellow or green tint to the glass. Uranium glass fluoresces bright green under ultraviolet light. It was a popular novelty item in the late 19th century and early 20th century.
The blue color is achieved by adding other metal oxides to the glass mixture. The combination of uranium and other coloring agents creates unique and collectible pieces. The crackle finish adds another layer of visual interest, making this pitcher a desirable item for collectors of uranium glass and vintage glassware. The UV glow confirms the presence of uranium, increasing its value.
