Handsome vintage ceramic swan cachepot or planter, made by RB Alcobaca, Portugal, 1975-1990. Classic design with understated hand painted features.
Measures about 9.5 inches in overall length, 8 inches in height at the neck, and about 5.75 inches width. Weight is almost 2 pounds without packaging.
R. B. Alcobaca refers to vintage or antique ceramic pottery items, often hand-painted, produced by the now-defunct ceramics company R.B. Alcobaca in the Alcobaca region of Portugal. . Founded in 1875 by José dos Reis, the factory was run by the Bernarda family with the creative impulse of Raul da Bernarda leading to the production of artistic porcelain in the 1930s. The factory closed in 2008, and is now celebrated through the Raul da Bernarda Ceramics Collection at the Museum of Alcobaça.
