This is a vintage smoking set, on the verge of becoming an antique! Made in Japan during the late 1920s, by Noritake, these little porcelain caddies were given a super shiny special coating, known as "lusterware". Extremely popular in the late 20s and throughout the 30s, luster was included on planters, dinnerware, tea sets... you name it, there was probably a shiny version! This small smoking set is in the classic blue and peach color combination, and is decorated with playing cards on the sides. Perfect for your poker playing guests! Condition: This set is in Excellent shape! There are no chips or cracks, and the luster is still nice and shiny without much wear from handling. Both pieces have the unusual kanji & english backstamp combination, helping us date this set. Size: The cigarette box is nearly a cube, measuring 2½" by 2½"by 3" tall. Larger cigarette boxes like this one were perfect for long games or lots of friends. The match safe holder fits a standard small matchbox, and the whole thing measures 5" long, 3" wide, and sits 2¼" tall.
