This is a vintage nursery planter, shaped like Noah's Ark! Made in Japan during the late 1960s, for NAPCO's Napcoware label, this ship with the cutest cargo was intended to be a nursery planter, given to a new mom or a mom-to-be. The soft pastel colors would indeed look perfect in a baby's room, but it would be a lovely addition to a Noah's Ark collection too. I also think it would be a good fit for a stuffed animal or plushie collector, on account of how cuddly they've made all of those darling baby animals! Condition: This planter is in Very Good shape! There are no serious chips or cracks, but I did find a couple of small nibbles, as well as a few little factory flaws. There is a small chip on the back of the boat, as well as a little fleabite on the roof above the giraffe. There is a little area on the back of the roof that was not properly glazed during manufacturing, as well as several loose ceramic chips under the glaze on the interior. If anything they put too much glaze inside when they were making it, I think it looks like melted strawberry ice cream in there! None of these issues are super noticeable or problematic, and it really is in very good shape overall. Even the interior is nice and clean, despite the drippy ice cream! Size: This piece measures just over 3" across the widest point, is about 7½" long, and stands just under 4½" tall. The actual planter portion is difficult to measure, as it extends under the roof, but the front portion is about 4" long by 2¾" wide, and about 2" deep at the lowest point. If it was me, I'd try tucking a slightly larger plant in there at an angle, to make use of all that lovely interior space!
