I made this for men like me. For the ones who carry their pain in silence, who smile through the ache, who think they have to “man up” instead of speak out. We are taught to bury our emotions, to hide our struggle—but that silence is killing us. What Grows in Silence was born during one of the darkest periods of my life—when my thoughts were heavy, my chest was tight, and I couldn’t find the words to ask for help. The central bloom is me: raw, fiery, and exposed. Around it, there’s chaos—emotions I couldn’t name, memories I couldn’t hold, shadows I couldn’t escape. The blackened hand to the right represents what I’ve felt pressing at my mind for years, the quiet urge to give in. And yet, through all that, something still grows. Something still reaches toward the light.
Every year, over 703,000 people take their own lives, and men make up nearly 75% of those deaths. That’s over 47,000 men in the U.S. alone—fathers, sons, brothers, friends—lost because they felt they had nowhere to turn.
Released for Men’s Mental Health Month – June 2025
This painting is my way of speaking when I couldn’t. If you’re struggling, I see you. I’ve been there. You are not weak. You are not broken. You are human—and you are loved. Please don’t suffer in silence. 📞 Call or Text 988 (U.S. Suicide & Crisis Lifeline)

My name is NESTA—painter, writer, and artist born from the ache of absence. I came to the canvas not through ambition, but through mourning; when my grandmother passed, the world lost its shape, and so I began painting to find new ones. Grief taught me that silence has a weight, and color became my only language heavy enough to carry it. I never set out to be seen—only to survive the echo she left behind. But somewhere between the chaos of brushstrokes and the stillness of drying paint, I began to recognize myself, not just as someone who creates, but as someone becoming through the act of CREATING.
Art is never just decoration or technique — it is the language of the unseen.
